Our Annual Christmas Carol Gala at the Basílica Catedral Nuestra Señora La Altagracia

Every year since 1996 the Puntacana Foundation has organized a gala and concert in the town of Higüey featuring music performed by the National Symphony Orchestra and Choir. 

This annual tradition marks the beginning of the holiday season and is another way that Puntacana enriches the cultural life in its surrounding areas. This event is one that is very special to us for a variety of reasons. 

First of all, the concert is special to us in large part because of the wonderful venue we have for the concert.  If you have traveled in the Dominican Republic, you have probably noticed a curious building on our 50 pesos.  This building is the Basílica Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, and it has been the most recognizable landmark in Higüey since it was constructed in 1970.  It is one thing to experience a Christmas concert and hear your favorite carols, but it is quite another experience entirely to hear them in the Basílica. 

This concert is also one of the many ways that the Puntacana Foundation engages in community outreach and does its part to enrich the culture of Punta Cana and its surrounding areas.  This concert is open to the public and represents a cultural initiative to provide music and art to Higüey and other towns in the region.  The concert will feature all of our favorite traditional Christmas carols and provide an opportunity for locals to get together and enjoy a night of music.

As I mentioned earlier, the music will be performed by the National Symphony Orchestra and Choir, November 28th 2014 at 7 pm, which is proud to include some of the best musicians in the Dominican Republic.  The National Symphony Orchestra is led by Maestro José Antonio Molina who serves as the musical director and conductor for the concert.  Every year he puts together a beautiful arrangement of classic Christmas music that gets everyone in the holiday spirit and ready for the month of December.

This event is one of our favorites here at PUNTACANA, and it is easy to see why.  The gorgeous music combines with one of the most amazing locations in the Dominican Republic and insures that everyone will have an unforgettable evening in Higüey.
