One of the oft-repeated phrases on this blog is “sustainable tourism.” We go to great lengths to mention our commitment to sustainable tourism in our blog posts, and we have posted several times about some of our sustainability efforts, but we should probably explain a little more about the whole PUNTACANA Resort & Club philosophy and discuss the important role the Puntacana Ecological Foundation plays in our environmental efforts. So, without further ado, let’s answer an important question: what is sustainable tourism?
I want to take everyone back a little bit. Way, way back to November of last year when we were covering philanthropic projects and holiday concerts. While this will come as a shock to many of my friends in the US and Canada who are forced to contend with blizzards and freezing pipes, here at PUNTACANA we are gearing up for our annual Sun & Fun Golf Tournament on Saturday, March 21. This event promises both sun and fun, and best of all the proceeds from the tournament go to a great cause - helping the junior golf program for at-risk children in the nearby town of Veron.
