Circular 005 2013-2014
Dear parents and members of the PCIS community,
We would like to announce that from Monday September 30th until Friday October 4th the school will be having a ‘Fire Safety Week’.
During this week we will be hosting presentations and demonstrations given by members of the CSI organization and emergency services personnel from the Punta Cana International Airport. This includes experts dealing with fire, earthquake and medical emergency situations. The actual topics covered will include: fire safety, first aid, earthquake preparation and response, school procedures for emergencies (fire/earthquake/intruder lock down), fire truck/ fire fighter equipment and fire extinguisher use.
Monday 30th Sept.: 1st – 3rd grades, Tuesday 1st Oct.: 4th – 6th grades, Wednesday 2nd Oct.:7th – 9th grades, Thursday 3rd Oct.:10th – 12th grades.
On Thursday October 3rd we will be having a special presentation for parents, teachers and all residents of the village focusing especially on safety at home and first aid. We would like to see a good turnout for this as we believe that some simple information can literally save lives and it is important that parents are aware of this knowledge.
Finally, there will be an emergency Fire Drill that will be completed during this week so that we can evaluate the school’s preparedness for such situations.
We hope that you will be involved in this process, ask your children about it, hear what they have learned, and come along to the evening presentation so that you can also learn more about this very important topic.
