Get Ready For PUNTACANA's Dominican Republic Carnival 2015

What are some of the things that you think of when you hear the word “Carnival?” If you are like a lot of people, you probably imagine parades, parties, and Brazil - and it’s that last part that we are here today to talk about. 

Fortunately, we have a way to make that even easier than usual.  Right now, the Westin Puntacana Resort & Club is running a Dominican Republic Carnival hotel deal.  If you book with the Westin right now, not only will you get breakfast for two adults and two children as well as use of the beautiful facilities at the resort, you will also get complimentary tickets to Carnival along with transportation, drinks, and stage seats. 

While you’re at Carnival, you can look forward to seeing the annual parade through town, which features a truly international cast of characters, including visitors from Curacao, Aruba, Haiti, and Saint Martin, as well as numerous people from the Dominican Republic.  This parade collects more than 15 of the top carnival troupes, all of whom will give you the authentic traditions and folklore of Carnival.  In addition to the parade, you will be front and center for an eclectic concert featuring musical styles such as merengue, bachata, and reggaeton, not to mention witness the crowing of The King and Queen Momo(a)! An honor given to an influential Dominican. This concert marks the official end to the Carnival celebrations and is always a highlight of the weekend.

While the popular image of Carnival (Carnaval in spanish) is a big parade through Rio, the Dominican Republic also has a long, proud history of celebrating Carnival.  Lucky for you, you can skip the flight to Brazil and celebrate Carnival with us.
