Although he has recently become a tennis star, it is safe to say that throughout his career Victor Estrella has been the underdog. Born August 2, 1980 in Santiago de los Caballeros, a small yet lively town in the Dominican Republic. Victor Estrella Burgos grew up in a modest family with a relatively low-income, in order to make pocket money in aid of his family he became a ball boy for a nearby resort. The rest is history. Once Victor got his footing he continued to play but sadly could not dedicate his life to the sport he loved, he needed to continue helping his family. The story brightens as you might all imagine. Although this tennis star got a late start he has sure made up for it since then. "Estrella Burgos is now the first player from the Dominican Republic, man or woman, to reach the third round at a Grand Slam. The world No. 80 will have all eyes on him this Saturday, when he plays No. 5 seed Milos Raonic of Canada. It will mark the first time that Estrella Burgos has ever squared off against a Top 10 player." -US Open
